Fumbling in Photoshop

Hey there!! I just thought I'd share some of my tentative fumblings in Photoshop. Such a powerful programme (and I am not totally sure I know what I am doing yet!) but also a lot of fun.

I used Distort and Diffuse glow.

Here, I just used the clone tool to remove an unfortunately positioned lamp post!

For this view of the church I used Brush Strokes and Accented Edges.

For this picture I used Artistic and Sponge effect. It now looks like a painting!

Then I had a go at doing a double exposure picture, pairing a swan in Galway Bay with the Famine Memorial Ship in County Mayo. I used this tutorial to help me.

I am so glad I've convinced myself to give Photoshop a go - I had assumed before that it would be too complicated for me but it isn't. I still have lots to learn but it will be fun learning it all!

Did you know you can download what are called Actions for photoshop, sometimes for free? Basically, these are one click effects which apply preset effects to your photos. It's like a kind of magic watching it happen, I can tell you!! You can have a look at some of the (FREE!) lovely actions I found here. Plus the nice man shows you how to make your own actions and save them (my first one just literally transforms whichever picture you have with my first ever edited picture - which is not quite the desired effect I can tell you!)

Have a great day!

Photoshop can be quite addictive. It is so much fun trying the different effects. I struggled with the program until I found some free tutorials over at Kim Klassen cafe website. She's an excellent teacher and her video has helped me a lot.
