DIY How To: Revamp your Flip Flops

Revamp Your Flip Flops

Hey there people! I hope you are having a lovely afternoon (or morning/evening depending on where you are).

Today I wanted to share with you a simple DIY I am linking up to My DIY over on Her New Leaf. The challenge Kira set was to revamp some simple flip flops into something more special. I decided to add some crochet and sparkles to mine. Here's the lowdown:

For the crochet part you will need wool, a crochet hook and scissors.

1. You need to make four chains of crochet stitches. If you need step by step instructions on how to make a stitch chain just click here.

My original flip flops which I picked up in a sale for just £1!! I loved the pink sparkly pattern but wasn't too mad about the grey plastic. That was the part I decided to revamp!

For the revamp you will need flip flops, four crochet stitch chains, scissors and a crochet hook.

2. Pop out the little button on the bottom of your flip flop.

 3. Take one of your crochet stitch chains and tie several knots around the button on your flip flop. Make sure it's tied tightly more than once.

 4. Take your crochet hook and feed it through the hole in your flip flop. Slip the crochet hook through the last stitch on your chain and pull the chain through to the top of the flip flop.

 5. Once you have done that, cut off any extra wool at the bottom of your flip flop and push the button back into place.

 6. Now you can start wrapping your crochet around the plastic.

 7. Once you have wrapped your crochet along the plastic to the middle again tie two or three knots tightly and cut off any extra wool.

 8. Wriggle your crochet chain along the plastic until it's spaced out how you want it. Then simply repeat steps 2-8 with both flip flops.

TA -DA!! Now, at this point you could well be done. I however was eyeing my sequin collection ....

 Pink and sparkly? Yes please!

I glued on some little pink sequins and voila - lovely revamped flip flops!!

I love them and can't wait to wear them out next summer! I also put on a layer of Mod Podge after applying the sequins just to seal them in place better.

So, have a go and restyle some flip flops for yourself!

Have a great day people!!

ps. Let me tell you about this cool thing I've got going on:
